Wearing a face mask is still a federal requirement on all public transit, including all passengers and drivers in the SB Loop vanpool subsidy program.

All vanpools supported with assistance from SBCTA under the SB Loop vanpool subsidy program are required to take all reasonable measures to comply with the following Federal face mask directives:

  • The White House Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel, issued on January 21, 2021 requires mask-wearing on all forms of public transportation.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an Order on January 29, 2021 requiring that all passengers must wear a mask over mouth and nose on all public transportation.
  • The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the face mask requirement through May 3, 2022.

Existing SB Loop Vanpool Coordinators and New Vanpool Coordinators applying to the SB Loop vanpool subsidy program are responsible for ensuring vanpool passengers are in compliance with federal, state or local orders related to COVID-19.
